Before jumping into an FEA analysis:

1. Plan your approach. Think of more than one method.
2. Write down assumptions.
3. Decide how much to model. Check for symmetry in the model and loading.
4. Write down steps needed to achieve your goals.
5. Create an input file which can be parameterized (copy from session editor or log file).
6. Check your results thoroughly.
